I lost my hard drive and with it the eReader software. When I connect my eReader via USB and try to install the s/w, I get a message saying "cannot connect to the server". Network and internet is ok. 

Is this because the PRS-300 is too old and no longer supported?

Hi,

Yes, as far as I know the software is no longer available.

You might want to use a different software with your reader like e.g. Calibre.
