Vtuner not working

Hi

I have not been able to access vtuner since Friday 5th September, I reported it to sony yesterday and the reply was "Unfortunately, our systems are currently down for maintenance and will be up and running within 24 hours, Please feel free to contact us again at that time.".

Has anyone else not been able to access vtuner for 4days, it seems that being reliant on just one internet radio supplier may be like putting all of your eggs in one basket.

Having not had the internet radio service for 4 days I feel this is unacceptable, does anyone feel the same?

I've added another approach to this debacle.

Figuring that Sony/vTuner can not or will not respond to their customers in a candid and constructive manner, I'm thinking an indirect approach through the retailer organisation can't hurt. At the end of the day it's the retailers that stand to get it in the neck from customers, and it is they who are inadvertently participating in selling goods which may be in breach of the sale of goods act.

Who I have spoken to does not really matter just now, but they are a company with many stores throughout the UK and therefore some buying power. They have a good reputation for customer service. The guy I spoke to completely understands our frustrations and will try pushing some buttons to see what happens. Not expecting an overnight answer but it had to be worth a try. I see this as one step short of dumping my amp on the desk at said retailer and asking for a refund.

@wilsonmfw  Yes my question was ' Does anyone knows if we can listen to a webradio without Vtuner? ' I didn't specified "with a Sony CMT" since it is the subject of this thread...

The media need to get on to this story.

I've suggested to BBC World's "Tech Tent" it might make a good segment

I'm sure there are many more relevant media outlets out there as well. Just a matter of pitching the story to them, if you have any contacts

'Any' alternative source of Internet radio while Sony and Vtuner or a new provider if that is how Sony are thinking is helpful to anyone who has lost the ability to listen to Internet radio on their Sony devices for the time being. This is about being denied Internet radio access which in this case just happens to be Sony!

@mat_sony_1 Sony refused my request to give me temporary access to Sony's Music Unlimited service. They claim this is not possible, even though the service is offered in the hifi's menu. This, together with the fact that Sony still hasn't mailed me that their internet radio service is broken, despite me registering with Sony's info-update service for this model, annoys me. @bollydave... I agree. I've updated my amazon feedback accordingly. I'll complain to Amazon about the claim that this hifi supports Internet radio since it is not clear if this will work in the future. At the very least it protects Amazon from unnecessary returns. #mybrickedsony

I just contacted CNN and Ars Technica. This issue is totally newsworthy. The topic needs a new media push.

Please do write them too - they need to know from all of us:

And, by the way ... as this being a Sony hosted forum ... the following news from CNN Money, hot off the press as of today, won't be new to Sony: http://money.cnn.com/2014/09/17/investing/sony-loss/

"Sony expects to lose more than $2 billion"

After the market close on Wednesday, Sony said it expects a 230 billion yen (1.3 billion pounds) net loss for the year ending on March 31, worse than its prior estimate of a 50 billion yen loss.

On Thursday morning, the shares tumbled to a 5-week low of 1,844 yen before managing a slight bounce to 1,914.5 yen, down 9.8 percent.

Sony's financial woes will not be helped by thousands of customers who bought audio equipment with the internet music streaming feature vTuner.

vTuner has not worked globally since 06 Sep 2014 and many consumers have taken to social media to express their rage and severe disappointment in the brand and the fact that Sony are not saying what the issue is or when it will be fixed.

This is likely to have the downstream effect of many loyal Sony customers choosing alternative manufacturer's equipment in the future resulting in a dramatic reduction of sales in Sony's AV division.
