Hello,
I have a problem connecting my Xperia Arc to any pc or laptop. Other than the charging icon, there is no sign that my phone is connected.
PC Companion can't detect it, no drive shows in Explorer, no messages on the phone's screen, nor in its taskbar.
In the past, when i connected the phone to a pc, menu's appeared on the phone's screen to select a connection-mode. None of that happens now.
Since i would like to back up the phone's content and check for updates it would be great if somebody could offer a solution to my problem or tell me what i'm doiing wrong here.
Thank you,
Ron

There is simple solution. I faced similar situation some times ago. I presume that your Xperia Arc was getting connected to your pc earlier and now you don't. Follow these instructions. Remember keep your Xperia connected to pc through USB port.
1. Click > Devices & Printers on Windows Task Bar,
2. You will notice an icon Xperia Arc on the screen. Right click and you will notice the menus 'Troubleshoot'.
3. Click > 'Troubleshoot'
4. Windows will search for device connectivity problem and a window will appear for 'Re-installing USB Driver"
5. Click > 'Yes' to re-install USB drivers and you will notice the USB drivers being re-installed and successful completion of the same.
6. Now you will notice that your Xperia Arc is detetected by Sony PC Companion.
7. Now you will be able to use Sony PCC as you wish.
I hope my experience willl be of some use to you and your problem is sorted out. I wish you good luck.
Regards,
I have had the same problem for months. SE can't fix it so do what I did - buy an iPhone 4S. So much better and far more reliable
