I thought my sony TV would update the software automactically, but on checking My sony KDL-40EX503 Tv is currently running out-of-date Software version PKG4.025EUL-01061, so I am trying to update this to the current version PKG4.085EUL-0108 shown on the Sony website,
I am using an Apple Mac and have downloaded the software update using both Safari & Firefox.
I download the sony_tvupdate_2010_0485_eul_.zip file and this unzips to make a folder called: sony_dtv0FA00A00A0A0_0002010 and inside this is a single file: 00020100_01e50000.bin
I move this folder to my USB stick which plays my movies and other files fine on my TV, but when I insert this into the TV I keep getting the message - NO APPLICABLE UPDATE DATA WAS FOUND.
Any ideas!
I had the same prob, until i formatted the memory stick! worth a try!
I have exactly the same problem mate.
alos using a MAC and getting the same files extracted.
I'm using a Kingston 4GB USB memory stick and it says its FAT32 formatted (file get info from finder menu).
I will try reformatting my memory stick or using another if I can find one and let you know how that goes.

ha - my mistake, I was already on latest firmware.
subsequently used the USB stick to play media (AVI files) with no problems.
