Have VAIO laptop VGN NW20ZF, using Windows 7. The F3 and F4 keys do not (and never have!) control audio volume, though the symbols printed on them show that this was (supposedly) what they were designed to do by Sony. Using Windows Help has been of no benefit so far. Also, the "sound mute" button next to Web Access buttyon also does nothing. Ideas anyone? Cheers, Dan
Do all the other Special Functions buttons work?
Fn+F2 -> Muting Sound?
Fn+F5/F6 -> Screen Brightness Control?
Fn+F9/F10 -> Zooming?
Are you using the original version of Windows 7?

Thanks so much Glencogo! (Windows 7 Home is installed) Yes, using the Fn key AND the desired function key simultaneously does actually work rather nicely! With my previous dell laptop, the keys must have been activated or set-up to not require double-keying (aid for Enhanced Accessibility?), and I (stupidly!) did not try the (obviously required) double-keying on the Vaio. Thanks! Also interesting that there have been 415 people reading my post, and 1 splendid Reply!
