App Optimization?

I want to ask what is an app optimization? I was updating all my apps from play store (took around 17 minutes I think, reading the play store cpu usage in battery usage).

I left it updating when I'm going to sleep, when I woke up my battery went down 18% from 100% to 82%

when I see what used the battery most is app optimization (I take the screenshot after using my phone for a while, so the Android OS and system took the first place and second place in this screenshot)

I haven't seen it in the battery usage area before, but I think it is the Doze mode which is a powersaving feature built in to Marshmallow. It will limit the background activity of apps when your phone is not in use.

You can find this in Settings > Battery > 3 dots > Battery Optimisation. 

The battery drain is likely due to the updates you were performing.
