Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

Sony Mobile Communications would like to provide an update in response to the recently highlighted concerns regarding excessive battery drain on some Xperia models running android 4.4.1 or higher. We have identified that the root cause of this is related to the latest version of Google Play Services (4.4.52).

Until a new version of Google Play Services is provided by Google we urge users to either uninstall the latest update of Google Play Services (might limit use of Google Services like Youtube) or go to Settings > Google (accounts) > Ads > Tick the box for Opt out of interest-based ads, and also disable back up of your data by going to Settings > Backup & reset (Personal) > uncheck the box for “Back up my data.

@Alexdon @Sam I think I found another issue with the latest google maps, the latest update literally record everything that you do or go to

http://www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-delete-and-disable-your-google-location-history/

that could explain why its always on, it has made a HUGE difference now that I had disabled that feature

google play services and maps is draining a lot of battery after update! even when all location tracking and history is switched off.. google pay service battery drain is apparently a known bug, dont know why we are not getting an update on it.. there is an app GServiceFix, and it helps somewhat..
