C702 memory card problem

I just received a m2 card from a friend who didn't need it anymore, but for some reason my phone is unable to detect it. My card reader is able to detect it, and i can access it through my phone while it's connected in file transfer mode. However, my phone says there is no memory card inserted, and my computer is unable to detect the card when the mobile is connected in phone mode. I've tried formatting it in both FAT and FAT32 with several different cluster sizes, but it makes no difference. Would appreciate some input!

Edit: The new card is 2gb, my old 512mb still works perfectly.

Check the contacts of the memory card in your phone, wipe any dust off and try again. If problem persists, use a new memory card-your phone takes up to 4GB.
