Display language

Have just taken delivery of Experia X10.   When I switched on it appears not to be displaying English.    The Home page is displaying the text "Buka kunci".   Can anyone help me re-set the display language to English?

Hi Brian, just unlock (Buka kunci) to the home screen, pull out the app page and go to the screw driver icon (Tetapan mean setting). After that go to the 'Penempatan & teks' (Locale & text) and then 'Pilih penempatan' (Select locale) . you will see the language you want. Hope this will help you.

Best regards,

Vince

Hi Brian, if I was not wrong the setting should be the same. First just scroll the arrow to unlock the home screen. Then scroll up  to the app screen and click the setting icon highlight in circle. When you enter the setting menu, click the row 11 and then it will show you the locale and text menu. click row 1 and you will find your language.

@glow1981: if you just mean you have the japanese keyboard for messaging, it's simple to change it back to English.  Go to write a text message and tap where it says 'Type to compose'.  When the Japanese keyboard appears, touch and hold the text that says 'Type to compose' or the '?123' button.  A screen will pop up including the option 'Input method'.  Tap that and select 'Standard keyboard' or 'Android keyboard', both of which are English.  I prefer the Android keyboard, but see which you prefer...

If you mean the whole thing has turned Japanese, let me know and I'll let you know what you need to do, but in brief, press the menu key, then settings (bottom right of the touch screen buttons), then the 4th from bottom on the next screen, and then the top option from the next screen, which is where you set the locale and languauge settings for the phone generally.  From that, select whichever version of English you want - English or American.

I do hope that this makes some sort of sense, and that it helps!
