Google Contacts not syncing with Contacts app

Just got my Z1 Compact. Love it.

So far the only problem is that the Contacts app won't sync with Google contacts. None of my contacts get downloaded to the phone. Works fine on all my other Android devices. Does anyone know why this is happening? And ideally, how I can fix it?

Okay so I solved my own problem. Turns out the contacts were all there but hidden due to an overly aggressive filtering setting in Sony's contacts app. I must confess I don' t know why they picked that one as the default. But now they're all there and I can see them!

I'm having a similar problem.

Can you tell me how you changed the filter settings?

It seems that only some of them are syncing. I discovered this when I tried to ring a regular contact with my new Z1. The contact's info was only partially there, but not the phone number that i recently entered in Google Contacts. I can see the contact's total info in Firefox browser on my Macbook, just not on my Z1.

Under contacts > menu (i'm not sure of the proper term for the 3 buttons vertically on the lower right side) > filter > choose the account you want to sync then you can select which contacts you want to show.

Open > “MENU”

Select > “FILTER”

Under “FILTER CONTACTS”

Untick > “CONTACTS WITH PHONE NUMBERS”

Untick > “ONLINE CONTACTS”

Under “DISPLAY CONTACTS” Select all options
