Group messaging stopped using Google Messenger

I have the z3 and use Google's messaging app. Up until now I have used group messaging bo problem. I have tons of group conversations in my conversation list. But recently my phone has stopped sending group texts and splits all messages up to individuals. I checked settings in Messenger and there is not an option for MMS whereas my wife's phone (a Z5) does. Any thoughts?

@edenriot

Which messaging app? keep in mind that if it's a third party app, you will have to contact the app developers regarding this bug.

Hi edenriot,

Welcome to the community,

Be sure to keep the App up to date as well, if you are unsure then check within the Playstore to make sure it is.

As stated, it is Google's Messenger app and it is up to date. Not trying to get a fix from Sony necessarily, just hoping that somebody has had this happen and knows what the fix is. Like I said before, it USED to work and now it doesn't so I must have changes something somewhere I just can't figure out what.

What version of hangouts do you have exactly?

No idea, I don't use hangouts. Does that effect Messenger?

If I understood you correctly you are using this app, right?

Do you mean that your Wife's Z5 has a setting for this in her Messenger app as well, or are you referring to her pre-installed Messaging app? If you are referring to our own Messaging app then you are correct in that there's an option for that:
Start Messaging > Menu (3 dots in the top right) > Settings > Group conversation.

This allows all messages to be sent to all recipients and they can all reply within the group, but it's sent as an MMS.

If you are referring to her having that setting in Google's own Messenger, then you should compare the app version to see if that may be the cause. Go to Settings > App > Messenger, check if you have the same version (it's displayed beneath the app name at the top).

Thanks @emir. That is the app my wife and I are both using. I have NOT yet checked to see if we are running the same version. I will check when I get home. In the meantime I have switched back to the Sony Messaging app and it is working properly so it is definitely a problem with the Google Messenger app. If anyone knows of anything else I may be missing please let me know.
