micro sim card

I have just put a micro sim card into my Xperia Z1 slot. It would appear that the phone is not picking up the card at all. I have been into the settings and then in to storage and the card does not show up. Can anyone give me any help/clues as to where I am going wrong and what I need to do to correct it. Regards

The card does work as I have just taken it out of my old HTC phone.

What if you reformat the SD card

Low level format the card on your PC,insert it in the phone and format it there also.
