Microphone not working during calls

As title suggests mic doesn't work, however I can be heard if I use speakerphone. Any suggestions?

@Adrianallen What phone do you have? Did you test the mic in diagnostics?

its an xperia z3. gonna be honest: I have no idea how to do a diagnostic. will google it now, any advice gratefully recieved
