My phone memory filled itself up

Hello,

I factory reset my phone on Sunday because it had a memory problem that prevented it from working properly so decided to start from 0. After updating all of my apps and installing the one I wanted as well as putting on sd card anything that could be, I had over 2GB of internal memory left on Monday, and Tuesday. I haven't dowloaded anything beside the odd updates here and there but this morning I suddenly only have only 600MB of internal memory left and 5GB of app (it wasn't like that yesterday). Moreover my battery is now running out faster. It can't have dowloaded anything overnight as both my mobile data and wifi were off.

Did anyone ever experienced that ? What can I do ?

the updates takes up alot of space, maybe it did not display accurately the space taken the night before , and then when it finished indexing and other background stuff it displayed the right space taken. the battery drain also is explained by this ( updates and indexing in the background).
