problems: internet via usb

Hi, I'm using a sony ericsson w760a and i want to use the internet on my phone via the usb plugged into my laptop which is already connected. I tried using the pc suite, with Internet connection sharing but its not working. the phone says not connected to the internet. Any bright ideas?

I have never been able to connect my laptop using my phone as a modem to the internet via 3G (UMTS), but PC suite creates 2 connections one using 3G and one using GPRS.  At least on my laptop the 3G connection is the default and the GPRS connection is the backup.  When you connect through the PC Suite it dials a number on your phone to connect to the internet.  You can see what that is by going into the network connections settings.  Normally it is *99***4#.  If you delete the number "4" you shoudl be able to connect.  That is, change the number to *99***#  Hope that helps.

thanks a lot ktrio for the response, but i wanted it to work the other way round. My laptop's connected to the internet and now i want to access the that internet from my phone via a USB cable. I've used PC Suite's latest version. It shows connected n all but i cannot browse the internet. It doesnt even let me install opera mini - like it tries to connect and then and error message pops up saying could not connect to the internet. Any ideas?
