text message notification with no new text message

Since Friday I have a #1 next to my text message icon(new message notification), although I have no new messages... I've tried restarting phone, powering down completely, and erasing all text messages... And I still have the new notification... I don't know what else to do and I'm not much of a phone savvy person... Can someone please help? Thank you!

Hello @scubamark1,

Was there any change while in safe mode?

I'd also recommend that you clear data for the Messaging application. Go to Settings > Apps > All > Messaging > Clear data and reboot your phone.

I was out on the flight line all day so I didn't have time... Had a couple people try and boot it in safe mode during lunch but they couldnt figure out how... I just went to settings-apps- and dont know how to select all-then messaging-then clear data... The all wasnt clear to me(location)... I did clear the cache in facebook, messaging then restarted phone... Notification is still there

I see, in that case I'd suggest you clear data for the Xperia Home application followed by rebooting your phone. You'll find the option to clear data for Xperia Home under Settings > Apps > Swipe to the All tab > Find Xperia Home > Press Clear data and reboot your phone. Is the notification still there?

Note that this will reset your homescreens, meaning that you will have to restore them afterwards. Nothing will be deleted from your phone by doing this.
