I am afraid you will have to do a repair/reset via PC companion or Sony Ericsson Update Service. This phone and i believe it is an Android thing, require you to have a google mail account, I personally don't think that is emphasised enough in the literature or on initial start up, Sadly by doing the reset you will loose some or all of your info stored in the phones memory but not on the sd card. The gmail account gives you access to the Android Market too, you don't have to use the actual email address for anything once its set up other than security on things like this. If you look in the box to the right 'More Like This' you will see that you are far from being alone... the lock out happens loads!
