Touch doesn't respond

Hey all, I have a sony xperia Z and this morning when I tried to use it the touch pad stopped responding to all  touch.  I still receive messages, emails, calls etc. but I am unable to access my phone. It is confusing as I didn't drop it or get it wet.

I tried turning it off, pressing down  the lock button and volume button until it vibrated 3 times.

Then I was talking to someone on the Sony Chat before and he told me to download my stuff onto PC Companion and reset my phone.

I tried this but due to it needing my phone's screen to be unlocked, and i can't do this as my phone doesn't respond to touch at all, I don't know what to do. Please help me! Is this a common thing to happen randomly to peoples phones?

How do I fix it, I love my phone and don't want to loose all the data on the handset as It means a lot to me.

Hi,

If the touch does not respond, you are unable to perform a back up on your content in PC Companion. I suggest that you perform

a software repair in PCC to see if this can solve your problem.

In PC Companion you press start on Support Zone > Start on Update the phone/tablet software > Repair phone/tablet (the blue clickable link in the message) > Follow these steps without having your device connected to the PC.

Follow the instruction that appears in the program and do not connect your device until this guide tells you how to connect it.

Note that your personal data will be lost and since you cannot unlock the phone you cannot make any back up.
