Touch screen issues with Sony Experia C4

I have a contract for a ligitimate Sony Experia C4 but lately the touch screen response is acting strange. The screen became responsive from top to bottom along the lines so that no matter where I press it activates the entire row down or sometimes presses everything. From a bit of research I think it is the digitizer and not the display unit?

When it is activated in glove mode though it functions as it normally would in glove mode although it uses more battery power. Since I've activated GM I haven't deactivated it yet to see if it has changed anything. Also, I live in a very humid coastal region so I have noticed ocational damp on the screen and dried it off. Does this influence the functionality of the screen? Is it a capacitive screen or does it respond to light? I used to own a nokia that showed similar defects when the screen is exposed to harsh light or when damp refracts light on the screen...

The temperature of the phone remains normal through everything, infact it's rather cool. It does have the protective vinyl cover that comes with the package and the phone has been looked after really well except for one or two low falls. I have done everything to try and solve this at home - drying, software reset, all sorts of updates and recomended settings and screen diagnostics that didn't pick anything up. The response did not improve or deteriorate either. The only thing left is to send it in for repairs.

So..

Is the screen malfunctioning? Will it get worse? Should I considder repairs? It is still under warranty.

Can it be solved with software?

Is this normal and will it stop when the weather changes? Is glove mode my best bet?

I've never had a problem with the Sony C4 before and use it for everything. It's a great phone and I need it to work properly.

Regards

I think it's mostly hardware related but it could be also some app interfering with the digitizer...

So, you could try this: open the dialer, dial this number *#*#service#*#* (letters are to be Translated in numbers, check the dialer, it's easy) then click to Service Tests and then Touch Screen... A black screen will appear, try to draw something.. What happen? Does the line follow your touch? If yes, it's mostly software. If it's not, then it's hardware.

If it's software you could drastically repair the software using XC.. Oh before performing the test try to disable the glove mode!
