USB connection problems? phone gets partly connected

since connecting the phone to the pc is the only way that i can transfer my data, photos and videos to clear the memory.. i face a problem since the pc does not recognize the data on the mobile.. it does not appear in my computer..when i connect it tjust the install media go and pc companion opens... what can i do plz to solve this issue and transfer my mobile data to the pc?? thanks in advance

Enable MTP under connectivity settings.Take a look here too:

it is already enabled automatic since i have no other option except MTP :S

Do you have developer options enabled and USB debugging - check settings then just above about phone at the bottom, If you don't see Developer options then it's not enabled
