USB part damaged after first charge

Hi all
I got my new Z5 compact this morning. I plugged it in to charge for a few hours. Then when I unplugged it, I noticed damage on the black plastic ring thats between the metal of the USB socket and the body of the phone.
The damage looks like where the USB plugs metal teeth protrude from the plug.
Pretty annoyed over this to be honest.

I'm sorry to hear that, were you using a different cable (non-Sony)? you can also contact your Local support and do NOT expose your phone to water.

Hi DPM2016,

Welcome to the community,

If you only purchased the device this morning, then I suggest going back to the place of purchase they should be able to help, if not then contacting Customer Care as @uliwooly has stated is the best option.

No I used the USB cable that came with it. To be more specific the damage is where the two teeth on the USB plug slide into the socket and has cut into the black plastic ring. I don't think it's going to affect the waterproofing but it looks chap especially as the phone is only a few hours old.
Can someone else who has this phone look carefully at the USB socket and see if theirs has these cuts?

I have a white Z5 and yes mine has 2 cuts either side of the USB port on the plastic trim on the inside. If you look at your charger it has 2 metal pins that is what causes it but does not affect the phone in any way

Cheers mate. Its a shame Sony didn't envisage this and moulded the cuts into the plastic. It would have looked better than nasty tears.
