W995 in a coma...

Hi,

I'm the happy owner of a W995, but now I have a major problem:

- when I plugged in cable to charge it from my computer as I always do, it failed to charge it

- I turned it off and on again, and it asked me to "put the right sim in".

- also, the battery icon looked as if it were completely gone

- I swapped the sim cards and put another one in

- I charged the phone for an hour in data mode

- now the battery icon still looks as if it's gone, although the phone is on, and the phone says there's no network coverage

- both sim cards work on another SE phone (c702)

Can you please help me get my beloved W995 back and working?

Thanks

S.

Hi,

The two quickest fixes are resetting your phone, or updating the software via our Update Service. In either case, be aware all your data would be lost.

If these options don't work, let me know where you are located and I'll give you the number for customer service in your area.

Thanks,

can you tell me how I can reset my phone?

I'm afraid I'd have to do that, since my computer doesn't see the phone anymore...

Also, would I lose pictures and music, too? Can I save them on the memory card?

Yes you will lose everything so make sure you back up what you need on to your memory card. For reset go to settings and then there should be an option saying master reset and there you go.

Hi,

I did that, and now the phone is effectively dead.

When I try to turn it on, the keypad lights turn on, but the phone stays dead... I've been charging it before doing it, so the battery shouldn't be the issue. Any ideas?

I have the same/similar problem with my J105 Naite [8 months old], the handset displays a message of 'Inactive SIM', freezes and restarts at any point of time.

In my case, they replaced the PCB once, refused to recognize the problem the next time. They said, orally, that it was a SIM Problem, the problem still exists, am going to go back to the service center,

I have

i. had the SIM replaced by the service provider, [BSNL]

ii. tried another SIM from the same service provider, [BSNL]

iii. tried SIM from another service provider, [Tata Dokomo]

iv tried all these SIMs on LG and Nokia, absolutely no problems,

This problem is apparently due to a PCB fault and the solution is to have the same replaced. There is not a software fix for this issue if you have warranty send it back and get it replaced with a different handset, ‘have been troubled since about 3 months!!

so........ best of luck........... act fast if under the warranty so they will replace free of cost ................ otherwise it is REAL expensive, God help.........
