Wats App not working

I am getting below error for my Whats app on Xperia L.

"Unable to connect. Please check that you are connected to the Internet and try again. Please reboot your phone if your connection problem persists"

Any solutions???

Same issue with data plan (3g) or Wifi connection?

I just bought a Sony xperia L for a friend of mine. His Whatsapp, instagram and kik wont work if the phone is on mobile network. It works fine with wifi though, but not every home has wifi.

I think it needs good internet connection.Try to set your phone on WCDMA.
