Hi All
Just got my Xperia Mini Pro - and loving it.
But I am not a fan of bluetooth - I like my headset to be physically plugged in to the phone - and I like a boom.
Unfortunately, my current headset is incompatible
Research tells me that iPhone, Blackberry (I think mine is this type) and HTC are different - but what is the Xperia Mini Pro - which type do I want.
Even a confirmed pinout to allow me to make one would be helpfull.
Better yet, does anyone know of a wired boom headset (or adaptor cable) that is definitely compatible with the Xperia Mini Pro. If there was a genuine SE model I would buy it without hesitation.
TIA
Terry
http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/products/mobilephones/overview/xperiax10minipro?cc=gb&lc=en Here you will find all the compatible accessories for your phone, with a few wired headsets among them.If you were interested in buying any if them, I would suggest having a look on Amazon.
Thanks - but I'll hang on for an answer to the question(s) I actually asked
Trust me, I have already looked at the ofifcial accessories available.
My question(s) remains.
Is the pinout on the Xperia Mini Pro (as opposed to X10) "as iPod" or "as Blackberry" ? (or even what is the pinout and I can knock up an adaptor myself)
Can anyone confirm a wired boom headset that works with the Xperia Mini Pro ?
TIA
Terry
There's two different standards being used. Sony Ericsson and as I understand Huawei, Samsung, Nokia, LG and Motorola uses the OMTP standard for the connector. Meanwhile Apple and as I understand other brands like HTC and Blackberry uses the CTIA standard for the connector.
This picture shows the wiring difference between the different standards.
Excellent - just what I needed to know (mind you, if iPod and Blackberry are the same, I think I've just bought the wrong one again
)
thanks
Terry
To update this if anyone is looking for a wired (boom headset)
The Headset Buddy adaptor for PC headsets (3.5mm 4-pole to 2x 3.5mm) and its Startech.com equivalent. DO NOT work on the Mini Pro
The Nokia AD-53 adaptor DOES WORK allowing 2.5mm headsets - including Xbox to be used on the Mini Pro

You can get an adapter here, to use other types of headphones with the Xperia phones...

My old NOKIA WH-500 headphones (which were excellent) have the compatbility issue (headset not compatible) with my Xperia Z. Is there an adaptor that will give me the full functionality of the headdset control (play/pause, answer calls, volume.
These headphones are all wired into my SKi helmet and they used to work perfectly so I'd be keen to use them with my Xperia. Thanks!
