Hi everyone,
I am new to the forum, since I didn't have any problems with my phone.. This, only until two months ago.
Well, here is my problem: my phone is in boot-loop since 2 months. It began rebooting after closing the wifi button. Then it started its infinite boot-loop...
I "resolved" trying to keep the phone in charge and I waited about 2 days? It continued its bootloop, but then, it started to go again, as always.
I noticed that when it was rebooting itself, the wifi button wasn't on the top, near other icons.
When I tried to touch the screen, it started to rebooting again... Until the wifi symbol was on the top. Then, it didn't reboot itself, so I began using it again.
But in these 2 months, the problem was going on again.. The bootloop wasn't forever as before, it was for 3-4 times, always with no wifi icon and then it started to go again, when wifi icon was there..
Today, I have the same problem as the beginning. It won't go.. There is no wifi icon when phone switchs on and when I touch the screen it reboots itself forever .___. I don't know what to do, I have no other phones and I am not home, I'm studying in another city, far from my own home.
My friend lent me an old Nokia Xpress Music phone, with no wifi or other apps.. But I need them since I need to communicate with my parents, friend of the University, to check from browser the daily news of my uni.. But nope, I can't now, since my Xperia L is mentally down.
I tried to remove the SIM, it didn't change a thing.
I tried to go, when connected to the PC, in download mode, but I can't since it's in boot-loop xD
I tried, when it began to work as before, to repair the software by PC Companion but it failed, since after the reboot from pc companion, my phone goes on bootloop again, failing the repair.
Well, I waited a few days, always, after this problem.. left the phone in charge.. waited for it to work again as before.. and then, I did an hard reset from the settings, saving my personal files such as photos or videos and even my address book.
It seemed to work, but- NOPE, it continues to rebooting itself forever, and ever, and ever..
All because of the WIFI? **bleep**? I don't understand this part, I mean.. Is it normal for the phone to go down because I closed the wifi? Or because the wifi won't connect to my home network, saying it's saved as a network but never connecting..?
Please, if you have a solution, tell me..
Some friend said maybe it's the battery? But I don't think so.. But never tried, didn't want to spend money for nothing, if it doesn't work..
I'd consider performing a system repair as this will often fix issues however bear in mind that this will factory reset your phone
Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the onscreen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process
If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP
Hi Thommo,
unfortunately I tried this system, but it failed.
Because I CAN'T switch off my phone, since it restarts iteself..
I can't enter in download mode even if I take off the battery, wait some minutes, put it on again...
It never enters download mode (volume up + power).
If I do this procedure, the phone will start as "normal" but with the reboot bug, but never being in download mode.
Your phone should not boot if you hold the volume up and power keys untill you feel 3 vibrations and if it does then you need to visit either the place of purchase or contact Xperia care to have your device inspected http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/
But if you are able to fully switch off your phone then as per my instructions above hold volume down then connect your cable - Your phone must not be on to perform a system repair
Hi Thommo,
I did as you wrote, but unfortunately it boots again, ever and ever.. I wrote to the Support. Let's see what's their suggestion.
Thank you very much for your support! I will update here.
Update:
My phone is acting really strange.
It's going so hot and the battery won't last 2 hours.. It never did this, plus it won't connect to wifi AND to bluetooth, too.
I think I will just abandon it..
I love this phone, but I can't stand this anymore.
I can't always use my phone provider's connection, I am not able to use wifi, bluetooth and now it won't last from morning to launch time.
If someone got this problem and knows how to fix it, tell me please. I want to leave this phone only when I have no choice.
