Z3 Tablet Compact headphone socket

Headphones (Sony Noise cancelling MDR EC31) do not work i.e no sound and speakers continue to operate.

Any ideas ( note headphones tested on Xperia phone and work OK

Just to be clear.

Noise canceling headphones do not work on your Z3 tablet.

Galaxy Note headphones are working fine on your Z3 tablet.

Is that your situation?

Could you try your NC headphones on other device? For example ask your nearest Sony Store or electronics market to let you try on Z2, Z2 Tablet, Z3, Z3 Compact, Z3 tablet to make sure if something is inside your device or with headphones connector.

Yes tried the head phones on other Xperia (Z) and this worked fine.
However problem now solved by adding a Smart key then repeating activation on Smartconnect. Not sure why this was not already in place but this is a new product

Glad to hear that you got it working.
Not sure what could have caused this. It should work out of the box without downloading any apps and i haven't been able to replicate any issue here. Please let me know if you should encounter more issues when using the headset with your tablet.

I have managed to replicate this (loudly on a train!) by first selecting the music player and then plugging in the headphones. Normally inserting the headphone jack disables the speakers
It appears you need to plug in the headphones first presumably to trigger the Smartconnect app and Noise cancelling. Then you can change the pre chosen music player/Spotify etc.

I'm still trying to find a way to replicate this. If i understand you correctly, it happend when you first started the music player (for example Walkman) and then connected the headset? Do you remember if music was playing while you connected the headset? Have you connected any activities to the headset in Smart Connect?
