Not sure if I have t right about the USB cable into the phone. It used to be a D-type connector and -shape now it's an oval-shape. So I assume it wouldn't make any difference to how you connect it. 

Still the best phone. to be honest I went away from the Xperia but bought a new one today. and WOW!!

If your phone has a USB-C connector then it can be connected to the cable in any way. This is one of the most important advantages of USB type-C over type-B.

Hi @Harpoman66, welcome to our forum!

As @Quester mentioned, this is the new USB Type C that has pretty much replaced all other USB standards at least for smartphone and accessories, but it's becoming very common for laptops and so forth to have USB C ports as well.

There are several big benefits. You can't put the cable in the wrong way, much higher transfer rates and the new quick charging standard called Power delivery only supports USB Type C as well.

I have used the Xperia XZ1 Compact for a bit over 2 years now and it has served me very well!
