New Xperia XZ - Endless system update loop

I received my brand new Sony XZ this morning and since I've been stuck in an endless system update loop that has achieved nothing. The Android version hasn't budged, the software version number hasn't changed. The moment I run an update it restarts the phone and then prompts the exact same update again. How do I resolve this as it's very frustrating when I've not had the phone even 24 hours.

I only received the phone at 11am this morning though. What is there to repair when it's only been out of the box 12 hours?

Got it, I've seen this before, update after update, not sure why it doesn't just installed the latest update, but could you try XC to install the latest update instead of OTA updates?

Yes I'm trying it through XC now. Making some progress as it doesn't seem to be repeating the same update. Just irritating that it's now running every update thats ever existed to date instead of the most recent. Can see this taking a while if it works.
