You can share a contact as a file that you can send via MMS or share using other applications, such as via Email.
To share a contact using the Messages application, open up the application and tap on the conversation (if you have already one with the person) > Tap the "+" sign to the left of the text field > scroll down and tap on "share a contact" > pick the contact from your contact list and send the message.
If you only want to share it in text, the best option is probably to just copy the name and the number.
