System update and install

My phone has just done a system update/install. The phone is dead. If I switch it on it say. "Unable to verify this device. This device will shut down in 5 seconds, and then it shuts down.
This is the second update that this has happened.

Has anybody else had this problem? And how can I fix it from happening again!

@Alias1950

I'm sorry to hear that, which Xperia do you have? Android version?

Hi,

Yes I have used companion for the last 5 updates and it still ends up with the same Results (a dead phone with the black screen of death).

So I then have to do a factory reset every time. To say I am upset is a understatement. I have taken it back to the O2 shop I got it from, and showed them the black screen message. They had never seen that message before and just wanted to send it back to Sony. Saying that O2 will just do a reset and send it back. I have also sent repeated emails to Sony themselves . Each time I have received a generic email saying try this, this and this and if that doesn't work do a factory reset. I am fed up of doing a factory reset over and over each time their is a software update.

I hope Sony reads this unlike the emails and questionnaire I sent about this problem. I have never had a Sony phone this bad before. If I didn't like the brand so much I would throw it and something else.

Sorry Rant over!

@Alias1950 I'm not talking about updating the phone with Xperia Companion, but performing a software repair. it wipes the phone but also downloads a fresh copy of software in an attempt to fix problems like the one you've described in your post.

Thank you for your advice and support.  I however got fed up with the lack of help from O2 and got myself a new phone.

Many thanks Irene
