xz premium screen will not shut down

xz premium.. After up dating to android 8  I had lots of problems but the main one is the screen will not shut down.. it dimms  but it will not close down completely and it eating up the battery. any surgesstions?    thanks....... UP DATE... I HAVE FOUND ITS SOMETHING TO DO WITH WIFI. IF I TURN WIFI OFF ITS PERFECT AND SOON AS I TURN WIFI ON THE SCREEN WILL NOT COMPLETLY TURN OFF.. ANY THOUGHTS PLEASE

Hi @wabbits,

Obviously the first thing you should check is the screen timeout, in Settings... If that's set to an appropriate setting and the screen is still staying on, then my next thought would be that an application is causing this.

Try running your smartphone in Safe Mode for a bit... Then post back here and let us know how you went.

hi yes its in the 15 second setting.. just found out it only does it in WiFi mode if I turn WiFi off its perfect

You already know what the next suggestion will be....did you do a software repair using the Xperia Companion? Yes it is no fun but it is the only way to know for sure if it will fix the issue.
