XZ3 Ringtone issue

Whenever my phone rings, it plays my WhatsApp alert then my ringtone. 

I've looked at linked contacts but if I unlink them I end up with duplicate contacts. 

A y help?

I took it back to Carphone Warehouse and they couldn't figure it out either.

In the end I have set my text alert to vibrate only as let's face it, no-one really sends texts these days and if I do get any I am still aware they have been sent. 

No more alerts playing through my ringtone. No ideal but it works

It was happening to me also, but I found out that there is a setting that adds the notification sound before the ringtone. The problem is that I can't find under which menu was this setting. The only thing I remember is that it was the setting about answering or denying calls with movement. Like turning the phone with the screen downwards to reject a call, or automatically answer a call when the phone is reaching the ear. If you find this group of settings please tell where it is. hahaha

To find out you can use the search function in settings.

Settings-> tap on magnifying glass-> type keyword, type other keyword, maybe your another keyword and you're there.

After a lot of searching i finally found it. The path is: Caller application-then the three dots at the top right hand corner-then settings-then call accounts-you choose the carrier at sim 1-then smart call control and you activate or disactivate. When activated you hear your notification sound ringing before the ringtone in incoming calls. Strange but true. Have fun!

Same here. i downgraded to kitkat, no effect. on sony forum there is a ton of people with this issue. I got Z3 dual, incoming ringtone volume is terrible and speakerphone volume is lower than speaker for ear. I rooted but i found no patch to fix it mybkexperience. Viper4Android doesnt help. Any ideas?

Its emabarasing that such a expensive phone have a this issue and no one from Sony cares about that. There must be separate setting for messages or notification generally. Anyway, who wants & ask to play notification sound over ringtone...?!??  

I found so far quite good solution by using Sound Profile https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=Orion.Soft 

There you can an option to add exeption for notification in each profile settings, so you add calling app without any key words and set notification volume in zero. That mute that notification sound playing over your ringtone.
