I'd recommend that you start with testing the microphone in your phone. You can do so in the inbuilt test that you can find in Settings > About phone > Diagnostics > Test > Microphone. How is the microphone working in this test?

If the microphone is not working in the test, try and reboot your phone in safe mode and do the same test again. In safe mode all applications that you have downloaded and installed on your own won't be loaded, so we can see if any of them is the cause of this.

This bug i am also facing this issue. it occurs when i use my canal earphones and after using it microphone does not work then i have to restart my device then it works fine so try to Restart your device if still not works then its hardware fault

Hi @xperia121, sorry to hear about this.

Is this something that you have started to experience recently, or did it start occurring after installing a new update or a new application?

Are the headphones wired, or are they wireless and have you been using the microphone on the accessory or is it enough if you just use them for listening to music? If you have another pair of headphones (wired) that you can try in your phone and see if you experience the same behaviour that would be great.

I'd also recommend that you reboot your phone in safe mode and see if you experience that the microphone isn't working unless you restart your device after using your headphones.
