VoLTE support for Z3

HI all,

Just want to know if voLTE supported by Z3 or not?

My carrier should support voLTE but i see the device fallback to 3G when I dial out.

Moreover, I couldn't find any option to enable/disable voLTE.

Thanks

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

I've checked the specifications for Xperia Z3 and as far as I can see, it does not support VoLTE.

I am surprised that Xperia Support staff does not know the Z3 support VoLTE. You just need to correct firmware to turn the feature on. We are using it in Singapore since Z3 first launched.

@agito,

When I received my Z3, I had issues with call quality, I would hear a lot of static noise, etc. The options for VoLTE was enabled and disabling it solved by problem.

Now, when I contacted tmo support about it, they said that VoLTE was newer and isn't all supported. Thus, it is available on tmo networks, but itsn't working as of yet. So, if you have the ootion under Settings > Call Settings > Enable VoLTE then your phone *should* support it. However you will need to get with your carrier to see if they do.

BTW, I have the D6616 model.

Hi,

I was scratching my heads when i see a special LTE-related status icon on my xperia Z3.

After reading above thread it became apparent it can be disabled/enabled and is also requires carrier support. Mine is Singtel and it is marketed as "ClearVoice":

I guess more importantly is though it does not charge customers for this service as of now, there is always a potential of charging this service depending on carrier and its policy.

Hi,

I recently sent my Xperia Z3 to Sony Service Centre @ 313 Somerset and when i got it back, i noticed the VoLTE feature missing. I guess this must a firmware/software issue. I was told to check with SIngtel and to my frustration (2 visits in total) Singtel said they are not responsible for updating firmware and asked me to check with Sony Service Centre again.

On returning back to Sony Service Centre @ 313 Somerset, I was told by another staff that they are aware of the issue and could only update the firmware when they received it (from where i do not know).

The funny thing is that if the fulfillment centre of the Xperia Z3 product for SIngtel can load the Xperia Z3 with the firmware that supports VoLTE, why hasn't Sony Service Centre in Singapore received that firmware at all?

And it was a pity that i forgot to note the firmware version when i just bought it from Singtel.

I wonder which firmware version that is (that supports VoLTE)?
