My sony xperia Z5 Premium recently ran into some problems. It is under 2 years old and is still covered by warranty. The headphone Jack stoped working a year ago for no reason, and I was not aware of any warranty covering the device. Half a year later a miniscule warp in the case by the power button formed due to bad structural integrity of the sides of the phone. The damage was not inflicted but formed due to build quality. Recently the side panel of the phone on the right side. The buttons stopped working. First it was just the volume down and power, but then half an hour later also the volume up. This occured when the phone was not being used, and was not touched inbetween use. When i picked it up I noticed the problem trying to unlock it. After using double tap to unlock, I restarted the phone to try and solve the problems but had no luck. Nor did a software repair work. I requested to send in the phone to get it repaired by warranty. I now recieved a quotation from Sony saying that the problem is not covered by warranty becuase of the warp caused by the build quality. They also stated that I would have to pay for the screen to be replaced, despite the screen having no dead pixels or other problems whatsoever. The chat support said that they also will take a second look at the device. If I am to even get my device back I will have to pay for shipping and analysing costs.
Hi @C_C, sorry to hear about this.
All service cases are handled at a local level as the service routines, warranty terms and so forth may differ between markets and is this is a Global user based forum, I would recommend that you keep in touch with your Local support team for any inquires regarding your device that is sent in for repair.
They will be able to provide you more detailed information on the repair and how you can proceed if you do not agree with the decision that has been made.
