Xperia Z5 Compact echo using handsfree

I just purchased a new Z5 Compact and have found that when making a call using the speaker phone / handsfree option the person on the other end of the call hears the echo of their speaking.  Its like what is coming out of my speaker is being picked up by my microphone and sent back to the other party with a slight delay.

I have seen other posts in a similar vein.

Is anything known or being done about this problem.

I like to use the handsfree speakerphone option for calls a lot and this is a big problem for me.

thanks!

@bickspickles

Could you boot on safe mode to check if you experience the same issue.

Hello, thanks for the reply.

I restarted in safe mode and tried a call. Still getting the echo.

On my end (Xperia side) its not a problem - no echo. It is only the other party that hears it.

Like I said, it is as though the output from my Xperia is feeding into my Xperia microphone and sending what the person says back to them.

Hi bickspickles,

Welcome to the community.

Do you have the in-call speaker volume turned up to high? Does the echo go away if you adjust it? And does this happen with every person you call?

 Hi bickspickles,

What type of headset are you using, is it one supplied with the device. Also does this happen outside of handsfree?

I'll try adjusting the speaker volume.  If I turn it down too low I wont hear the caller, but will give it a try.

This does not happen with the headset -

Adjusting speaker volume does not solve the problem. The person on the other end of the call can still hear the echo. I turned it down so low I could hardly hear the caller through my speaker.

Sorry, I may have misunderstood, can you advise if you are using a cover on the device?

No cover.
