Hi all,
I am having an issue with subtitles on my new TV and I hope you can advise.
I am unable to turn off the subtitles permanently on my new Sony Bravia KD55XG8796 TV.
I can turn them off whilst watching a channel but if I then switch channel they reappear without being switched on. Simililarly, if I return to a channel I had been watching and had already turned the subtitles off - they again reappear without being turned back on.
I have played around in the accessibility menu and found that subtitles are appearing as disabled as standard, but this is no the case in reality. I have to hit the (...) button to switch them off for each channel.
Can anyone advise how to permanently switch subtitles off as standard.
I think i may need a software patch or advanced settings.
Thanks in advance!

If the issue was repaired then came back, you should reach out the engineers, I believe Sony provides a "repair warranty". Not sure how long it is, but definite more than a month so give it a shot.
Thank you so much.
This worked for me.
I too had this problem and was just about to do a factory reset but decided to check here first.

I have the KD65A85BU, and I also have the same issue with the Subtitles not being able to turn them off, switching channels brings them back on. Been waiting nearly 2 years now for a firmware update that will apparently solve the issue. Giving up hope now with Sony.
Hey @LaserBoss7, have you checked the above thread and the mentioned troubleshooting steps and tried them already? and what is the connection method to get channels? have you tried retuned them?
