Have been very happy with my 37" KDL-37W5810 for the last 12 years but decided to upgrade to a new 50". Very happy with the TV but when I went to position my sound bar in front of the TV stand as previous, found that the sound bar blocked the TV remote control sensor making the sound bar incompatible with this TV. Wasn't expecting to have to change the sound bar as well.
Hi @alhayme10 Sony sound bars (for many years), may have a IR pass through in the settings, just for this scenario.
Tell us what the sound bar is, exactly, and we’ll look in its manual for you.
Or you could, if you can find the manual, in paper or on the web, and look for ‘IR passthrough’ in it.

Hi @royabrown2 It is no surprise, that I have no idea what sound bar it is, because I didn’t ask the question!
Hi - thanks for replies so far - I guess the sound bar is probably too old for that pass through feature - the model is HT-CT60
Indeed, no passthrough.
But treat yourself to one of these, for £7 :-
Put the receiver just in front of the soundbar, run the wire under the soundbar, position the sender just in front of the magic eye on the TV, and plug the USB power cable in a spare USB port on the TV.
Job done!
(Though if the USB port on the TV powers down when the set goes into standby, you may need a USB mains adaptor, and plug the USB cable into that, rather than the TV, so you can always get the TV out of standby:-

Though you may well have one already, from an abandoned piece of kit).
