Hi All, I turned my TV on yesterday and no response at all. Have unplugged it, disconnected all wires, re plugged it in and still nothing. Anyone else had this? I'm hoping its not fatal, its being looked at Wednesday as bought an extended guarantee when I purchased it thankfully. Cheers.
Have you tried connecting it to a different wall socket? Or testing the same wall socket in another way/using another device?
And checked the fuse in the mains plug isn’t blown?
@royabrown2 @Joe_Dohn Yep, all checked and its not that. The repair company I spoke to think it is the motherboard or similar so new parts are on order. Hopefully they will arrive next week and arrange to come and fix it! Funnily enough there had been times before when I had turned on sky or the blu ray player and usually that would then start the TV but it hadnt been happening for a while so assume internally something was starting to fail.
Hopefully this will be rectified quickly, do let us know once they get it repaired for you! ^^
@Joe_Dohn @royabrown2 @@All sorted out now.it was the motherboard that had failed. A new one was fitted and after a massive software update, it’s working fine although I now need to try to set the picture settings as I had it before. Although I had written it down, doesn’t seem correct!
Glad to hear that!
As for the picture settings, try giving the Sony guide a look, might help you figure out why it's not matching what you remember (or you might find something you like better).
Hope this helps!

appreciate it's a year since your post. This happened my KD55A1 today, Cant power on or get Factory reset to work. Dead as a Dodo. Tried all the power check options down to replacing the plug fuse.
Sony have advised today that Service Repair will visit my home to assess.
Do you mind me asking Is your TV still going strong following the motherboard replacement? I am hoping that is all that is wrong with mine.
Thanks in advance
Just replied on your other post so hope that helps. To still going as it was the motherboard and replacing it worked. Still turns on and off now and again though so probably needs a hard reset at some point.
