I plugged in an external HDD and formatted it for recoding but got the message "Recordings are not supported". Thinking there was a problem with the hard drive I purchased a new 2TB drive, plugged it in then formatted it for recordings. Same again, got the message Recordings are not supported
Click on this link for the specs for your TV, https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/televisions/a9-series/specifications
Go down to Connectivity.
USB recording is available.
Formats for HD should either be FAT16, FAT32, exFAT or NTFS.
When you plug the HDs in to the USB ports of the TV do you get an onscreen message.
telling you if the connected USB is not the correct format or a message saying a USB device has been
detected.
Are the HD drives you are using self powered, I don't think the TVs USBs ports can provide enough
power for traditional HDs or SSDs, maybe just enough to power a flash drive.
Hi @Phil_Orkney
Have you disabled YouView?

Got it sorted now. I just had to make sure I was not in the youview programme guide.
The big problem is that the instructions are extremely poor and do not tell you this!
