Still getting message “ Good news, BBC1is now available in HD for your local region, please tune to

Still getting message, Good news, BBC1 is now available in HD for your local region, please tune to channel 101 to watch BBC one HD. Blah, blah blah!

every time I pick a channel, this comes up, and three out of four times, it does not go to the channel, and you have to start again, I’m regretting getting a Sony, it’s about time this was fixed!

Hello everyone! What is the current software version on your TVs? Also, have you checked the same aerial with another TV other than the Sony one? I suspect it is an aerial or BBC related issue and nothing to do with the TV, but we need to test first.

Hello

In my case for the kd65x89k, the tv is on the latest software and has updated 3 times since purchase, The BBC work and message has been present right through those 3 updates, i am on Freesat, no aerial involved, just a dish.

The issue has nothing to do with aerial or dish, how could it, a dish or aerial does not affect a message being broadcast on the tv which is either coming from a choice of -

A- The BBC

B- SONY

C-Freesat or Freeview.

Aerial wont make a slight bit of difference to a broadcast signal.

Its my understanding that the BBC indeed completed the HD switch-over, although the SD channels are still visible on some sytems they should be completely removed by Jan 24.

I personally feel the signal thats carrying the message is from Freesat or Freeview themselves and they just have not removed the message as of yet, im led to believe this because everyone i know that has freesat is getting it on multiple brand tv sets.

The message however is not present on Sky broadcasts, i assume they either didnt broadcast the annoying message or they stopped and removed it when the work was complete.

Hey guys, I've looked online and couldn't see any mention of this issue anywhere, so here's what I would try:

-Tune the TV.

-Contact BBC.

-Get a satellite specialists to check connections/dish/reception/etc.

If anyone tried any of the above, let me know where are you at now, please.

Hi there

How are you not able to find this problem anywhere else?,  the question has been raised in a few different forums.

Again can i please reiterate to people, A signal carrying a message is being broadcast directly over a network to receivers (Frreview boxes, freesat, tvs etc), basically anything capable of receiving that signal, so it doesnt matter if you try a different aerial or dish, the equipment that enables you to receive the signal in the first place to your tv, that message will still be there!!

I honestly dont wish to sound arrogant about this, but thats a bit like saying "My computers running slow, maybe if i plug it into a different monitor itll work better".

The device used to receive a signal (Aerial or dish) has got nothing to do with a message still being broadcast about work the BBC are doing, try a hundred aerials, message will still be there.

Again sorry, not being funny, im just getting impatient at the lack of sensible responses on this post.

HAS ANYONE actually spoken directly to sony, Robert have you spoken to anyone, Maybe Sony have some info on what is going on, failing that i dont know what to suggest im all outta ideas, the deadline is now Jan 2024 for 100% completion of work, its possible we may have to endure it until then.

@graygerman @HannahEd01

Google gives five pages of results for ‘Good news, BBC1is now available in HD for your local region’, of which about four pages-worth refer to this thread in the Sony Community, which is quite an achievement.

A search for ‘Good news, BBC1 is now available in HD for your local region’ doesn’t turn up anything much; can you quote references to this being reported in other forums, from after the message should have stopped appearing for people, and not from before that?

Personally, I would be inclined to Factory Reset your TV, as I think this message has got stuck in it somehow.

If it is still appearing after that, take it up with the BBC, and also with Arqiva, who are responsible for all the transmitting equipment that might still be doing this, both Freeview and Freesat.

Hello

Yer ive tried retuning my TV and also reset it, made no difference.

I am about to perform in the next hour 2 further tests

A - Retuning the TV built in Freesat to a different postcode region, i plan to try various ones inc Scottish postcodes and postcodes as far away as London, just to see if message is still there Nationally and not just regionally.

B - if that fails i am going to attempt an FTA retune, this is a pain as it tunes around 2000 channels and in no particular order lol, but it may verify to me if this issue is right across the board or not, If message does not appear after an FTA tune then we can eliminate Sony from the issue, that will pretty much single it out to the BBC or Freesat.

**UPDATE**

Ok,  Retuning complete using the inbuilt Freesat mode with diff postcodes acheived same reult, message still present.

Retuned via FTA, Message is gone,  this worked.  However be warned, not only are the channels all over the place FTA does not provide a full Tv Guide and you literally cant see past whats on now and next within the tv guide making it useless for me,

I have just called Freesat themselves and got some information, - The BBC and Sony are aware of this problem which has mainly affected the Sony range of Smart Tvs and confirm there is a glitch somewhere and are working to find the source of the problem to solve it.

So im afraid it is just a waiting game (Good ol BBC) causing problems as usual, i feel Sony themselves may well release a future patch to resolve the problem for their equipment, annoying, especially when i want to watch channel 130 and it takes me to 799 instead, but hey, theres light at the end of the tunnel, lets see what happens.

29-08-23 - ***UPDATE***

Hi all, im very happy to announce after a retune last night this problem now appears solved and the black screen good news message has gone.

However, not all is rosey in my case, ive noticed despite the message being removed there see,s to be quite a lagged response in changing to certain tv channels, the worst being ITV HD, when selecting this channel i get a spinning circle in the middle of the screen and it takes around 8 seconds before the channel actually comes on.Ha Ha, typical, one issue resolved by replacing it with another, no idea what could be causing this,  However, please retune your TV if you still have the good news message and it should go away.

Hi @graygerman, what is your TV model and software version? And how do you receive the channels? Aerial, satellite cable or setup box? and does this happen constantly with the ITV channel?

Hi, how did you get on? This message is crazy, it’s driving me mad and so is finding channel guide getting muddled and the pc type timer circle thing, and the remote new batteries dying after 3 weeks from new xrA95K. Pretty disgusting.
