Hi All,
I recently upgraded to a XR-55A80J OLED tv and have an odd experience Im hoping someone can explain.
On occasions, when I turn the TV on the screen has a washed out white filter over the colour's. The sony menu's and Androaid TV menu's are fine and have normal colour balance but HDMi sources and live TV channels all appear washed out.
The TV is being watched in a dark room so I dont think its some auto brightness setting or sensor (unless its a faulty sensor) and as said the menu's all display fine so I dont thing its a panel issue.
Seems to happen most often when the TV is auto-started up from a startup signal from an XBOX series X.
Only solution I have found is to turn the TV off and unplug it to reset it back to normal.
Any advice appreciated.
What are the Xbox HDR settings set as?
Washed out colours and contrast are sometimes HDR signals not being processed correctly.
Hi Vardis,
The Xbox is set to HDR10 with auto HDR enabled at 4K 120Hz
Does the Xbox have the option for HDR always on?
It could be that the TV is recognising the source as SDR before the Xbox then switches it's video output as HDR.
Hey there,
Did you make sure to choose the correct HDMI signal format? And, are you using a High-speed HDMI cable? https://bit.ly/3EDy5OC
Thanks for the replies, Im using a ultra high speed HDMI 2.1 cable. It came with the Xbox and in the Xbox testing TV settings it rates all features for 4K as working expect Dolby Vision which I dont think is supported on this model.
Im assuming the auto-HDR is essentially the HDR Always ON option?
Hey griever-bc, which software version do you have?
Hi Hanah,
Its on the latest version.
Cant find the software revision in about section but ran the update checker again and it confirmed its on the latest version.
Hi @griever-bc, i think you can find the software version on the help menu, there should be a help button on the remote that will allow you to access it.
Also you have to make sure that the HDMI signal format is set to enhanced through the TV itself..
