I have bought a HDR CX740 and installed PlayMemoriesHome Extended on my computer (Vista SP2). I can import videofiles to the computer but when I try to edit them I get the message "unsupported video format". Should not the editing software supplied with the camera be able to handle the files from the camera?
Does anybody know..

Hello again,
It is a little embarrassing but I have to admit that I did not observe the list box at the upper right corner of the Edit window in PlayMemoriesHome. When i pick "Trim Video" it works. PlayMemoriesHome seems to be a very simple edit software and I will probably use it to move files from the camera to the computer and then edit with Premiere or Premiere Elements..
Thanks for your efforts to help me.:smileyhappy:

Hello Hali_1 - Welcome to the Sony Forums
The first thing to check would be that you have the latest version of PlaymemoriesHome installed on your computer. This version is 1.3.04 and if you need to download this, it is available here:

Please let me know if this helps (or if you already have this version of the software).
Thanks,
Simon
Hello Simon,
I have the latest version 1.3.04 installed. Do you have any other suggestions?
Regards/Hans.
Hello again
Thanks for letting me know about the version of your software.
It does seem a little odd that PlaymemoriesHome cannot recognise the video that you have recorded specifically with that camera. To be honest, I am not personally familiar with the Playmemories software as I usually use third party editing tools for this sort of thing but one thing I would suggest is trying to play the video files in a different piece of software on your PC to make sure that they are not corrupt/damaged in any way. If you are able to view the videos as files on your PC (perhaps in Windows Explorer by right-clicking on the camera and browsing the folders that are available) could you let me know the file extension so that I can suggest a video player to use. I am pretty sure that a general video viewer such as VLC Media Player would be suitable but it would be good to check (let me know if the playback in VLC is 'jerky' as there are a few ways to adjust the codec settings that may help).
Thanks,
Simon
