Hello Ola - welcome to the Sony Forums

The external microphone that you purchased has been designed to be powered and controlled directly by the camcorder. Once you have followed the instructions to connect the microphone to the AIS (Active Interface Shoe), the microphone will take its power from the camcorder battery and override the internal microphone within the camera.

Put simply, when the power button is pressed on the camcorder, the external microphone will also power up as long as it has been correctly inserted into the Active Interface Shoe.

For your reference, the manuals are located here for your camcorder and microphone:

http://pdf.crse.com/manuals/3214661121.pdf - Camcorder

http://pdf.crse.com/manuals/2549747021.pdf - Microphone

Some users who have purchased this microphone and other similar devices have also said that they have achieved even better results by adding a 'Wind Noise Blocker' to the microphone (in the business, this may be referred to as a 'dead cat' because of the appearance of the blocker as you can see in the photo):

The microphone is a different brand but I just wanted to give you an idea about how people are getting the best results from these external microphones.

Thanks - and happy filming

Simon
