HT-X8500 Soundbar

I have a HT-X8500 soundbar which is about 3 months old.

 

4 times now i have been watching terrestrial tv and suddenly the sound switches of. TV speakers work fine.

 

I have to switch it off for about an hour before it will work again. Have tried powering off and removing power and hdmi cable but this does nothing.

 

Anyone had the same issue.

Does this happen using Optical and Bluetooth as well or just over HDMI?

Okay it happened again a couple nights ago so i connected the TV via bluetooth and the sound was okay.

 

Reconnected the EARC Cable  and no sound.

In the morning the sound was okay again via earc cable.

 

I have now swapped to a standard HDMI cable and see what happens.

Was okay for a couple of weeks using a standard hdmi cable but then the sound went again but came back about 15 minutes later.

 

This has now happened using a hdmi cable and earc cable but the sound is okay when connected via bluetooth.

 

Looks like an issue with the TV itself.

Have a similar issue in that the sound stopped going through to the sound bar from the tv while on the TV channels.  However it worked ok on the sky box using earc hdmi. 

 

I tried using the optical cable instead of the hdmi with no sucess on the tv channels.

 

More recently the tv stopped working completely (4 months).   I plugged my old panasonic into the sound bar and all was fine on both the tv channels and the sky box.

 

I rebooted the sound bar a couple of time without any improvement. 

 

I conclude the problem may be with the sony tv which has now gone back to John Lewis's repair operation.

@Ventman have you tried using a different bar/speaker or TV to test either of your devices with something else?

Hi all,

 

When i lost the sound to my soundbar i connected my phone via bluetooth to the soundbar and the soundbar worked fine.

I then reconnected the tv via the cable and still no sound. Tried 2 different cables with the same result.

 

All this points to the tv so i shall contact the shop i bought it from.

The TV is a Sony Bravia KD43XH9196BU

My tv is Sony KD43XH8505BU

My bet is the problem lies in the sound output from the tv channel inc. netflix and amazon prime while a sound signal works on the hdmi socket fed by the sky box.
