I'd love to be able to tell you if the new software works out not but you
can't do anything with the new software if you can't get to the menu to
update it either manually with a USB or wi-fi.

I've even looked up a service menu online and it seems you can't even do it
from there. The service menu actually works but there doesn't appear to be
an option to update successfully.

So... I saw the post about the update and was happy, that there is one.

tried to install it and.... got a bootloop. Let it run and do its thing and... while in the bootloop the system decides "its time to auto standby"

now its completely stuck in a bootloop.

-> Totally bricked. Now I don't need to feel bad to throw it away

Does anybody know if the speakers are the same size as the ht xt1? a friend of mine needs a new speaker in his one.

This is about the level I've come to expect from Sony support regarding
their speakers. The 55" Bravia I have is great but the audio side is 🐶💩

Hi Guys, I'm so sorry, the only thing left is to send it for inspection.

This seems like an all too common issue and I believe Sony are more aware
of this than they let on. The first Sony approved repair centre guessed
what the issue was before they even opened up the unit citing a
manufacturing issue when the units are assembled and the PCB / motherboard
is fastened to the casing too tightly causing a latent failure in the board
due to cracking.

Any comment on that?

Hi sthatch, I couldn't find any article mentioning it's a known issue, although there are articles for recalling faulty products and free repairs. It might be just that the engineers are familiar with the device and its possible faults. Like a light pulp, if you tell anyone it's faulty they'll know without showing them what's wrong

Are there by chance any articles for recalling faulty XT2's?

Hi sthatch, this is what I was saying, nothing at all.
