I have a 5.1 system without Dolby Atmos with phantom surround enabled. Listening to films on Netflix, blu-ray etc and programmes supporting Dolby Atmos phantom surround has to be disabled to listen to True HD, Dolby Digital Plus etc as the Phantom Surround feature seems to override the preferred audio and outputs to Dolby Atmos.
Are there any settings to overcome this?
Hi Paul,
I'm looking into this for you and will update the thread as soon as I have an answer.
Best wishes,
Sean Mc
Many thanks Sean. I will wait for your feedback.
Hi Paul-M,
I'm just trying to get to the bottom of the issue, could you clarify if the settings are set to Phantom surround and you try to play any True HD, Dolby Digital Plus content, does any sound come from the speakers?
Cheers,

Hi The_Black_Rose.
When the phantom surround feature is enabled and the audio source has Dolby Atmos as an option the receiver outputs the audio as Dolby Atmos even though the speaker is set up as standard 5.1. I am getting sound from the speakers though. As an interim I have disabled the phantom surround and audio outputs as it should. Hope this helps.
Hi Paul-M,
I've just had a look into the help guide of the device and I saw that the phantom surround requires 5.1.2 system not just 5.1. So can you make sure that the setup is done properly, also, I found that performing auto calibration is required before using the phantom surround function.
I'd recommend checking this link for more information: https://bit.ly/2GPv2bQ.

Hi thank you so much for your feedback. I didn’t realise that the phantom feature needed a 5.1.2 setup. Not to worry the receiver still sounds great without. Maybe an atmos speaker setup in the future...
Hi Paul-M,
I'm glad we managed to know the cause of the issue.
Cheers,
