Unable to update

Hi, I got my Xperia arc s quite some time ago, and just recently realised I hadnt been updating the software. I tried to update it using pc companion, but once it gets towards the end part of the 'prepare' stage, a message pops up saying that it is unable to install the software. Any help please?

SUS ( Sony Update Service)  ... download and install it on pc and follow the on-screen instructions http://www-support-downloads.sonymobile.com/Software%20Downloads/Update_Service_Setup-2.11.12.5.exe
