Could someone please advise re. Youtube on Bravia Interent Video?

Hello!

From within the UK;

1.     I am finding that I cannot delete videos within 'my favorites' via my Bravia.

2.     I cannot play videos longer than 10 minutes via my Bravia even though they can be played via YouTube on my PC, generally TV shows.

3.     I cannot save TV shows to 'my favorites'

4.     I cannot subscribe to TV broadcasters.

Any advice please?

Regards

Bernie

Hi again,

Since you mentioned this in the other thread I thought I'd take a look.

Couple of fairly generic suggestions:

Assuming it's an EX503, ensure you have the latest firmware. It has some fixes for the IPTV apparently. Find it HERE

Ensure you have at least 1.5Mb on your broadband. Test HERE

Bear in mind also content rights differ between the PC and the TV. So you won;t get all of the content you can see on PC version of Youtube on the TV as they don't have the rights..

thanks

Thanks for this. I know that all is well on my speed (6Mb/sec plus) and the software automatically updates as I'm networked, but Catmambo's last point is interesting. I understand the 'rights' issue, but surely points 1 & 3 are software 'issues'?

Rights *may* be the issue behind the TV shows issue....

Can you go into a bit more detail about saving favourites on the TV and we can get engineering to investigate?

thanks

Edd (for 'tis you isn't it with new pseudonym?), thanks

This is what I was trying to subscribe to http://www.youtube.com/show/thesteamie?s=1 (it's quite funny actually) and as I'm in England and the show's from Scottish TV there oughtn't be an issue, should there! I haven't tried any other shows yet (I shall now!).

Moreover, why cannot I delete shows from favorites on the TV?! As everything streams through my router, and I have a UK address there shouldn't be any probs, right?!

Seemingly Pseudonyms are the order of the day so my PSN handle doubles up here...

Yup this looks like its STV ( ITV) thus ITV haven't granted Youtube the rights to show their content on the TV ( despite the fact you could simply plug your PC into the TV and display it that way.

Content Rights seem so archaic in some regards and simply haven't kept up with the pace of change in technology. My colleagues at Sony Pictures liken it to trying to change the wheel on a car whilst its still moving, which is quite a good analogy. I'm not excusing it, but I understand why the pace of change is so slow.

Deleting favourites from the TV is working fine for me, just logged into my account and deleted a video via the TV by pressing options and then remove as favourite..Using a BDP-S370.

Why Catmambo, never mind....

The BDP-S370 is a Blu-ray player (of course, and excellent it is too especially as it's now £99.99 from John Lewis, HMV and not forgretting your local Sony Centre (any loyalty points available for the ad?!)) and I understood from other discussions that the software isn't the same as the Bravia BIV software.

As an aside I tried to subscribe to 4oD at youtube too, same problem!

I like a 'challenge'!!
