I cannot watch DVD's on my Sony Bravia kdl 40ex711

Hi!

Sorry for the bad English, but it's not my first language. I'm from Sweden.

Now to the problem:

I got this TV (Sony Bravia kdl-40ex711) just three weeks ago and it works fine with one exception. I cannot watch dvd:s without this continuous irritating problem. When I start the TV and the dvd-player everything works fine for about two minutes, then all of a sudden the TV starts to jump between AV1 (where the DVD is connected), AV2 (nothing in that socket) and HDMI (where my digital box is). After about 15 minutes of swopping between AV1, AV2 and HDMI it settles on the right AV output, but in the upper left corner of the screen a pic of two speakers appear and about 10 cm of  the screen dims to a greyish color. This goes away after maybe 10 seconds and reapperas 20 seconds later. Goes away and reappears all the film through. This is extremely annoying, and when I called the Swedish Sony support team, they just said that I should press this special button on the remote. I have done that, I said to them, and it's not working, then they said it must be the scart cable. Just buy a new one and the problem should be solved. I bought one (gold plated) and it didn't work. I have even tried the dvd-player on a friends TV and it worked smoothly at her place. So I just don't know what to do next. Any ideas?

Hi Mystiix - Sounds strange. Worth updating the firmware on the TV and then doing a full factory reset after you have updated the firmware just incase something has corrupted somewhere.

Have you tried another DVD player just in case that is causing the problem?

Thanks
